The Royal Naval Sailing Association (RNSA) with the generous funding of Greenwich Hospital, is delighted to be providing free sailing and windsurfing opportunities for the children and families of personnel serving in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary. Delivered through RNSA’s partnership with the Andrew Simpson Foundation, this is an exciting chance to support Service families and introduce them to the fun and many benefits of sailing.

RNSA Youth Crew Family Days: Back for the third year running, the hugely popular RNSA’s Youth Crew Family Days are an opportunity for our serving RN, RM and RFA community along with their families to join us for a day on the water sailing, SUP and kayaking. Held during the Summer, these days can be found in Portsmouth, Plymouth, Blairvadach Scotland and Reading. Fully funded by Greenwich Hospital and delivered through the Andrew Simpson Foundation. Minimum age on the water is 8 years old. With a break halfway through the day for Families to meet others experiencing service life, reconnect with old colleagues, network and find support. We are joined on our Family Days by other RN charities, who share their support and advice with our community. RNSA Go Sailing: Back for 2026 and 2027, RNSA Go Sailing offers free sailing courses to the Partners of serving, RN, RM and RFA. Launched in 2025 with the funding of Greenwich Hospital, we welcome participants to join us in learning to sail!. Courses are delivered through our delivery partner, the Andrew Simpson Foundation in Portsmouth, Plymouth and Blairvadach and participants achieve their RYA Level 1 and Level 2 over a block of 2 days. Why is RNSA Youth Crew and RNSA Go Sailing so unique? We are proud in supporting our RN community through the sport of sailing and windsurfing. When booking our courses and joining us on the water and in the classroom, you are spending time with those also experiencing service life and the challenges it brings . RNSA Youth Crew and Go Sailing has a dedicated national Outreach Team with its own experiences of service life and are here to help with any questions you may have.

The dedicated courses aim is to get hundreds of 8-17 year old sailing in 2025 and beyond. They will be doing everything they can to make these weeks fully accessible and inclusive with no previous experience needed. The project will include a water safety element to help develop confidence for those less well versed with the sea! Please do get in touch as sailing is not only great fun but also provides a great vehicle for building a whole range of skills in young people as well as enhancing fitness and well-being.
