Dedicated to improving the Wellbeing and Development of Naval Children and Young People

The Naval Children’s Charity’s vision is that every Royal Navy and Royal Marines child and young person has their spirit and talent unlocked, giving them a brighter future and helping them to realise their full potential.

News

Recent news coverage and online content can have a real impact on families. If your children are spending time online, now is a good time to keep open, honest conversations going about what they may be seeing, hearing or worrying about.

With AI-generated content becoming more convincing, it can be harder than ever for children and young people to know what is real, what is misleading, and what to trust. For Service families already managing uncertainty, that can feel especially unsettling.

If you’d like some guidance on how to talk to your children about online content, support is available here:

The Naval Families Federation is also here to listen and support you. If you need to get in touch, you can contact them here:

All official Royal Navy updates for families are shared on the RN Forum. If you haven’t joined yet, registering is straightforward. You’ll just need your Service person’s name and Service number.

And remember, the Naval Children’s Charity has a range of helpful resources for children and families, including the Doing Distance toolkit and wellbeing packs, which can offer comfort and support during difficult periods: Resources – Naval Children’s Charity: https://www.navalchildrenscharity.org.uk/resources/

If you can, and particularly if your serving person is deployed, please remember to tell your children’s school so that they can keep an eye on your children and pick up on any anxieties they may be experiencing.  Also ask them to help mitigate any ‘playground chatter’ or rumours going around.

You are not alone. Support is here whenever you need it. ðŸ’™ðŸ’™

Our work

The Naval Children’s Charity provides support to help children and young people CYP (up to and including the age of 25) of Naval families, serving and veterans. Our aim is to ensure Naval children have the opportunities and abilities to thrive, and take pride in, their unique lives and experiences.

We will close the gap between children from Naval families and other children in terms of attainment and opportunity. The scale and quality of support for Naval children is grown. Naval children have the ambition, skills, and opportunities
to make an active contribution to society, thrive, and flourish within their communities and lives

Partners

We are extremely fortunate to have our partners who provide us with grants which we use to help the many children we support each year. A huge thank you to them all. If you are a grant giver or corporate organisation and would like to learn more about how you can support us please get in touch.

You can help to change a child’s life

Your donation could help a child access educational support or participate in one of our opportunities to enhance outcomes and broaden their horizons.
